At Cedarview, we thank the Algonquin People, and acknowledge that our learning, playing, and growing takes place on their unceded, and unsurrendered territory, and we recognize their enduring presence on this land.
My love of teaching and learning began on my first day of JK, and my pursuit of a career in Education has never wavered. I feel incredibly fortunate to serve as the Principal of Cedarview Middle School. Philosophically, I believe that children thrive in school when they actively see themselves reflected in all aspects of learning. I am committed to honouring the best interests of each child, and fostering a learning environment where the curriculum reflects diversity, is culturally relevant, and responsive. In an effort to support every child’s right to accessing opportunities that lead to success, I endeavour to cultivate an inclusive environment built on relationships with students, staff and families. It is our collective commitment to life-long learning that supports achievement, growth, and opportunity for success regardless of gender, sex, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, or disability attributes.
Cedarview is home to a diverse community of learners studying in the Regular English Middle French Immersion and Early French Immersion programs. In alignment with our district’s Strategic Plan, Cedarview is focused on creating a culture of innovation, caring, and social responsibility. We champion students through setting high expectations for learning with an emphasis on creativity, collaboration and digital fluency while fostering an inclusive and caring learning environment. With a strong commitment to supporting the community both locally and globally, students learn valuable lessons entrenched in history which inspires passionate engagement in helping others. Some organizations we support include, but are not limited to: The Terry Fox Foundation, United Way, Orange Shirt Day, Barrhaven Food Cupboard, The Mission, CAS, Education Foundation, and the Boys and Girls Club.
Effective communication between the home and school is essential to developing a partnership which supports students. Cedarview is fortunate to have a creative and supportive School Council committed to enriching the learning experience for every child. We are a community that acknowledges and celebrates diversity seeking opportunities to grow and learn together. Whether our families are new to Canada, or families with alumni who have attended the school, everyone is welcomed, included and celebrated.
